Better F5 Cam [3rd Person] [Camera Zoom] [Free Look]

by LL4i

Better F5 Cam gives the Minecraft client a third-person camera that players can pull back much further than the default distance, and zoom with the mouse wheel.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License26.2

What it does

The camera distance can be changed in small steps while holding F5 or scrolling, so a player can move in for a close, cinematic view or out for a wider look at the surroundings. The mod removes the locked default perspective and the repeated F5 key behaviour, and it keeps the view steady while the zoom changes. A camera adjusts its position so it is less likely to pass through terrain blocks.

The controls can be configured to fit a player's own preferences. Only the client needs the mod, because it works entirely in the Minecraft client and adds no server-side code. Better F5 Cam requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API, and is released under the MIT License for 26.2 only. It is not open source.

Key features

  1. Mouse wheel zoom

Scrolling up brings the camera closer and scrolling down moves it further away, with smooth steps.

  2. Extended camera distance

The camera can move past the standard third-person distance that Minecraft sets by default.

  3. Terrain clipping prevention

The camera adjusts its position to reduce the chance of passing through blocks and terrain.

  4. Configurable controls

Camera controls can be adjusted to suit each player's own playstyle and preferences.
