Worldbound Items

by Efimity

Worldbound Items lets an enchantable item be upgraded with Netherite Scrap so that it cannot be destroyed by fire, explosions, cactus or the void.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

Once an item is combined with Netherite Scrap through the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template at a Smithing Table, the upgraded item gains a set of protective properties. It becomes immune to fire, explosions, cactus damage and destruction, it never despawns, and it stays visible through walls with a glow that can be seen from a distance. A Worldbound Minecraft datapack provides the same behavior.

If an upgraded item falls into the void, it is automatically teleported back to the world rather than being lost. A Shulker Box that holds such items drops them when it is destroyed by an explosion triggered by someone, which is handled by the Creative Mod Item variant. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with a data pack option for servers that do not want to install a loader mod. Only the server needs the mod, so players join without installing anything. Files cover 1.21 – 1.21.11, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Netherite upgrade

Enchantable items are combined with Netherite Scrap at a Smithing Table to receive the upgrade.

  2. Protection from destruction

Upgraded items cannot be destroyed by fire, explosions or cactus damage.

  3. Void recovery

An upgraded item that falls into the void is teleported back into the world automatically.

  4. Persistent visibility

Upgraded items never despawn and keep a glow that shows through walls within a set distance.

Use cases

Protecting rare gear

Players can upgrade a valuable enchanted tool so that lava, explosions and falls do not take it away.

Server economies

Server owners can keep important items on the ground for trading or events without losing them to despawn.

Who it’s for: Server owners who want items that players cannot lose to hazards, and players who run survival worlds with valuable gear.

Questions

Does Worldbound Items need to be installed on the client?

Which versions does Worldbound Items support?

Files cover 12 release versions 1.21 – 1.21.11, published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. The latest file is 1.0.1 for 1.21.11.

What the author says

Worldbound is a Minecraft datapack that lets you make any enchantable item completely invulnerable while on the ground. To do this, combine the item with a Netherite Scrap and a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template in a Smithing Table. This datapack is inspired by Tinkers' Construct Worldbound Modifier.
