World Reset
by mimicvr5
World Reset lets a player return a Minecraft world to its starting state with one key, instead of leaving, deleting and recreating the save.
What it does
Pressing the reset key discards the current attempt and starts a fresh world, so play continues without restarting the whole game. The author built the mod around minimizing the time between attempts, which suits repeated runs of a single challenge such as speedrun routes, strategy tests or development work.
Support is provided per Minecraft version, and seven release builds cover rd-132211 through c0.0.13a, including very early versions. Because internal code changed a great deal during development, each supported version uses its own implementation. Older builds replace modified class files by hand rather than using the usual mod-loading system, so the installation steps differ from version to version and must be followed for the specific build in use.
Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game. The code is under the MIT License, but the project is not open source. Snapshot builds are published alongside the releases, and the author describes the project as ongoing, with more versions and functions planned.
Key features
Single-key world reset
A reset key starts a new world in place, so no save has to be deleted or recreated by hand.
Fixed starting conditions
Supported versions provide deterministic starts, such as a fixed player spawn position, for repeatable attempts.
Per-version implementations
Each supported Minecraft version receives its own implementation to match that version's internal code.
Use cases
Speedrun practice
Runs that need dozens or hundreds of attempts from identical conditions can restart quickly after each failure.
Route and strategy testing
A player can repeat one section of a route or one strategy without replaying the whole game between tries.
Who it’s for: Speedrunners, route testers and developers who repeat the same start many times and want to shorten the gap between attempts.
