tetrawear

by mickelus

Tetrawear, an add-on for the Tetra modular tool system, gives armor pieces a shared energy pool and a temperature system that affect how a player fights and moves.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Armor pieces that carry Tetra modules can be upgraded at a workbench by adding new modules or improvements. Light armor raises the energy pool of the player, while heavy armor lowers it. Honing options and modules also change the energy values. Energy is spent on actions such as mining, attacking and dodging, and it refills after a short pause without spending. If it drains completely, the player becomes exhausted, which disables energy bonuses and slows regeneration until enough energy returns above a set threshold.

Double-tapping a movement key performs a dash in that direction and costs a small amount of energy. Some modules strengthen the dodge, while others add secondary effects such as avoiding incoming damage or webbing nearby enemies. Several armwrap types grant bonuses for breaking blocks, dealing damage and taking less damage, but with the default configuration those bonuses apply only while the matching armwrap type is worn. Temperature is tracked across ten zones, and the scale runs between extreme heat and extreme cold. Staying in a tolerable zone improves health regeneration, while extreme heat lowers maximum energy and cold slows energy regeneration.

Tetrawear needs Tetra, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge for Minecraft 1.20.1, and it is licensed under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Its issue tracker is public.

Key features

  1. Energy-based armor bonuses

Armor pieces grant energy pool changes and bonuses that apply to mining, attacking and other actions that drain energy.

  2. Exhaustion mechanic

A drained energy pool leaves the player exhausted, which turns off energy bonuses until energy recovers past a threshold.

  3. Energy-based dodge

A double tap of a movement key dashes in that direction for a small energy cost, and modules can add secondary dodge effects.

  4. Temperature zones

Temperature is split into ten zones that adjust health regeneration, maximum energy and energy regeneration.

What the author says

Tetrawear is an armor addon for tetra. Apart from modular armor pieces, tetrawear also introduces energy and temperature systems to the game to make for a wider array of choices when it comes to crafting armor. Tetrawear starts off the same way as tetra: place a piece of vanilla armor in the workbench, then you can…
