Refraction
Refraction is a library mod of shared helper code for Forge and NeoForge, used by other mods to build features such as cutscenes.
What it does
Refraction bundles code that several projects in the same author's catalog need, so each mod can avoid copying it. It provides a config system with automatic syncing, persistent data storage, and a way to send custom data channels between server and client. Other mods that depend on it can call these utilities directly instead of writing their own versions.
Its parts cover several areas. Syncables let a class exist on both server and client with its state kept in step. A named channel API provides extension channel schemes, and a delayed-ticking handler runs runnables on either side after a set number of ticks. An event system supports multiloader builds, and voxel generation utilities handle block-shaped data.
Refraction runs on client and server, so both sides need it. It is published for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 on Forge and NeoForge, with the latest Forge build at 1.3.5 and the latest NeoForge build at 1.3.0. The source code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and the issue tracker is public.
Key features
Config with auto syncing
A configuration system keeps settings in step between server and client without manual work.
Persistent data storage
Atda stores data that survives restarts, so mods can keep state between sessions.
Custom data channels
Named channels with headers carry custom data between server and client, with a named API for extension schemes.
Delayed runnables and events
A handler runs delayed ticking tasks on both sides, and an event system works across multiple loaders.

Use cases
Building cutscenes
The author notes that the shared methods make features such as cutscenes easier to implement.
Sharing code between projects
Mods made by the same team reuse the library instead of duplicating networking, config and data code.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who want shared helper code for Forge or NeoForge projects. Players only need it when a mod they install requires it.
