OreSim
by arc1y
OreSim is a Fabric utility that re-runs Minecraft's ore placement locally, so a player can see where ores are expected to generate in a known world seed.
What it does
Given a world seed, the mod runs the vanilla ore placement algorithm on the client and highlights the predicted positions of ores in the world around the player. Supported ores include Lapis Lazuli, Nether Quartz and Ancient Debris, and the set of followed ores can be chosen.
The tool is designed for single-player worlds and for educational purposes, such as seed analysis. It runs on the client alone, so a server does not need it and players on multiplayer servers gain no advantage from it. The author states that players should respect the policies of the servers they play on. OreSim is published for 1.21.11 only, with its latest Fabric file 1.0.0 for 1.21.11, released 2026-06-09. It is not open source and is licensed as All rights reserved.
Key features
Seed-based ore prediction
Predicts ore locations from a supplied world seed, rerunning the vanilla placement logic instead of scanning loaded chunks.
Highlighted ore positions
Shows the predicted positions of the followed ores as highlights in the world, so their expected locations are visible.
Adjustable render distance
The distance at which predicted ores are drawn can be changed to suit the player's view and hardware.
Fade and rendering controls
Fade visibility controls and several rendering performance settings determine how the predictions are displayed.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Seed analysis
A player studying a seed can check where Lapis Lazuli, Nether Quartz or Ancient Debris are expected before exploring.
Single-player exploration
Players in their own worlds can plan a mining route using the highlighted positions.
Who it’s for: The tool suits players who explore single-player worlds and people who study how Minecraft's world generation works from a given seed. It is not meant for multiplayer play against server rules.
