ooney's Alpha Patches

by ooneykabooey

Ooney's Alpha Patches fixes a handful of annoyances in the a1.1.2_01 alpha build, such as blocks that misrotate and mining discrepancies.

What it does

The patches target one release only: a1.1.2_01. Most of the changes back-port utility features from later versions so that niche features such as the Furnace Minecart see more use, while the author states the goal is to keep vanilla behavior intact rather than add many tweaks. Players who prefer the older version's feel can use it without downgrading to a much earlier build.

The mod is client-side only, so only the client needs it and servers run without it. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Installation uses Java Agent and ModLoader, and the author's guide walks through a launcher setup: install MultiMC or Prism Launcher, register an account, add an instance, open the alpha versions list, select a1.1.2_01, then edit the instance to pick the loader. Snapshot builds are published alongside the release files, first published on 2026-02-10 and last updated on 2026-08-16.

Key features

  1. Corrected block rotation

Blocks that misrotated in the original alpha are corrected so they face the direction a player places them.

  2. Mining fixes

Several mining discrepancies in the alpha build are adjusted to match expected behavior.

  3. Furnace Minecart

Back-ported utility features give niche content such as the Furnace Minecart more practical use.

  4. Disc and jukebox signs

A disc inserted into a jukebox shows its title on a sign placed beside it, and the sign can hold a long overlay of instructions.

What the author says

This mod serves to provide an accessible alpha experience, without compromising on any vanilla features. Mainly back-porting utility features or giving niche features more use (Furnace Minecart). If you wish to have less tweaks than what the latest has, consider downgrading to an older version of this mod.
