LANBeacon

by XXCC4

LANBeacon lets a dedicated Fabric or NeoForge server announce itself on the local network so that players can find it without typing an address.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT License1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

Once the server runs LANBeacon, it broadcasts its presence to other machines on the same local network, so a player who opens the LAN server list sees it appear. The mod is server-side only: clients need nothing extra, and the server alone carries the announcement. Builds exist for 12 release versions, 1.21 – 1.21.11, on Fabric and NeoForge, with 0.9.0 as the latest file for 1.21.11 on each loader, both in the beta channel. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Local network discovery

The server is listed for players on the same local network, who can join without entering an IP address.

  2. Announcement broadcast

The server sends its presence to other machines on the local network at regular intervals while it runs.

  3. Direct join without an address

Players who see the server in the list connect to it directly, without typing a host name or IP address.

What the author says

When you run a vanilla dedicated Minecraft server (e.g., server.jar), it does not broadcast its presence over the local network. In Minecraft, the “Open to LAN” feature is triggered by the client: when a player opens their single‑player world to LAN, the client starts sending a special UDP broadcast packet. Other…
