InvHUD_Configurable

by Open-KFC

InvHUD_Configurable is a Forge addon for InventoryHUD+ that lets players set the potion icons shown in the potion HUD through a config file.

What it does

InvHUD_Configurable exists to make InventoryHUD+ configurable. The base PotionHUD in InventoryHUD+ works with a fixed set of mods and can show inaccurate or missing potion icons for others. This addon replaces that behavior with lookup rules: a global rule applies to all mods, while a specific path can be assigned to an individual potion. A potion without a matching rule shows a purple-black placeholder, and the rules are read from a generated .cfg file that already includes support entries for SRP and SimpleDifficulty.

The mod is a revised version that incorporates InventoryHUD+ features. It cannot run on its own, because it is an expansion module for InventoryHUD+, which must be present for it to work. It is required by AntiMod. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the mod is for 1.12.2 on Forge, client-side only.

Key features

  1. Configurable potion icons

Potion icons in the HUD can be set through a configuration file instead of relying on hardcoded mod support.

  2. Global and specific lookup rules

A global rule covers all potions, while a specific path assigned to one potion overrides it.

  3. Default placeholder icon

Potions without a matching rule display a purple-black placeholder image.

  4. Generated configuration file

A .cfg file is created automatically with support entries for SRP and SimpleDifficulty, using one rule per line.

Use cases

Adding icons for uncovered potions

Players who use potion mods that InventoryHUD+ does not recognize can point those potions at their own texture files.

Using SRP or SimpleDifficulty potions

The generated configuration already lists support for these two mods, so their potion icons can appear without manual setup.

Who it’s for: Players who run InventoryHUD+ on Forge 1.12.2 and want potion icons from other mods to display correctly in the HUD.

Questions

Does InvHUD_Configurable need InventoryHUD+ to work?

Yes. It is an expansion module, and it cannot operate independently of InventoryHUD+.

Which loader and version does the mod support?

The mod is published for Forge on 1.12.2 only, with 1.0.1 as the latest file.

Does the server need the mod installed?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.

How are potion icons assigned?

Rules are written in the generated .cfg file. A global rule applies to all potions, and a specific path assigned to one potion takes precedence.
