Immersive Aerodynamics for Protomanly's Weather
by Axes
Immersive Aerodynamics bridges Immersive Aircraft and ProtoManly's Weather, so aircraft flight responds to real-time wind, turbulence and atmospheric data.
What it does
The bridge feeds live atmospheric readings into how aircraft are calculated to fly, so wind speed, wind direction and turbulence physically affect movement and stability. Crosswinds push an aircraft off course and pilots must angle the nose into the wind to hold a straight line, while tailwinds raise ground speed and a drag dampening system keeps aircraft below a realistic maximum speed.
Wind strength rises with altitude, so low-altitude flight stays fairly steady while travel higher up meets stronger currents. Heavier vehicles such as warships, cargo ships and blimps resist wind far better than lighter airframes like biplanes, and the mass curve is calibrated so heavy aircraft stay stable but can still drift in severe weather. The mod runs on client and server and is released under the MIT License, which is not open source. Immersive Aircraft and ProtoManly's Weather are both required.
Key features
Crosswind drift
Crosswinds push aircraft off course, and pilots correct by angling the nose into the wind.
Air pockets
Strong storms create randomized downdrafts that force aircraft down and require quick pitch correction.
Headwind and crosswind instability
Headwinds cause nose bobbing, and crosswinds cause tail wagging when yaw becomes unstable.
Structural shudder
High speeds in severe winds produce a fast visual vibration across the airframe.

What the author says
Immersive Aerodynamics acts as a physics bridge between Immersive Aircraft and Protomanly's Weather. It injects real-time atmospheric data into flight calculations, causing wind speed, direction, and turbulence to physically affect aircraft movement and stability.
