Hopper
by LFG Labs
Hopper is a Java Agent library for Minecraft servers that resolves and loads plugin dependencies at runtime, so server owners do not have to shade them into each plugin jar.
What it does
Plugins often declare dependencies hosted on Hangar, Modrinth, SpigotMC or GitHub Releases. Hopper reads those declarations, fetches the matching files and makes them available to the plugin when the server starts, which removes the need to bundle every library inside the plugin itself. Its runtime loading means plugins can be added without a server restart.
The library is built on the JDK's own built-in classes and nothing else. It detects which server platform is running, such as Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Folia, Velocity, BungeeCord or Waterfall, and filters dependency versions to match the Minecraft version in use. Version constraints support exact pins and minimum ranges, and a lockfile keeps builds reproducible.
Hopper is server-side only, so only the server needs it and players join without installing anything. It is open source under the MIT License, with source code published, and files cover 1.19 – 1.21.11 as a Java Agent. The latest build, 1.4.0, targets 1.21.11 and was released on 2025-12-28.
Key features
Runtime dependency fetching
Dependencies are fetched from Hangar, Modrinth, SpigotMC and GitHub Releases while the server runs.
Platform detection
The server platform is identified automatically, covering Bukkit-family servers, Folia and the proxy platforms.
Shared dependency coordination
When several plugins need the same library, one copy is shared, keeping the server's footprint small.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
1.21.x12 of 12 versions with builds
1.20.x7 of 7 versions with builds
1.19.x5 of 5 versions with builds
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Plugins without bundled libraries
A plugin author can declare dependencies instead of shading them, keeping the plugin jar small.
Multi-plugin servers
Server owners running many plugins can let shared libraries be fetched and reused once rather than copied into each jar.
Who it’s for: Server owners and plugin developers who manage several plugins with overlapping libraries. Players need nothing installed on their side.
