by MapleSugar365

CopyID lets a player hover over an item and press F8 to copy its item ID to the system clipboard, a small tool for CopyID users working with item IDs in the game's inventory interface.

What it does

Hovering the mouse pointer over an item in the inventory screen and pressing F8 places that item's ID on the system clipboard. The mod is lightweight and works from the existing storage GUI, so no command or extra screen is needed. It is aimed at data pack authors and mod developers who need item IDs for recipes, loot tables and tags.

CopyID is a NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 only. It runs on the client alone, so servers and other players do not need it. The code is licensed under the MIT License and is open source, with a public source repository and issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Copy item ID on hover

Pointing at an item in the inventory and pressing F8 copies its ID without typing or searching for it.

  2. Clipboard output

The ID is written to the system clipboard, so it can be pasted straight into a text editor or a data pack file.

  3. Inventory storage GUI

The copy action works within the game's existing inventory storage screen, with no separate menu to open.

  4. Built for item ID lookup

The mod targets data pack authors and mod developers who need item IDs more often than players do.
