What it does

The sound changes are built as a fork of the Ambiance mod, adjusting how rain sounds and other ambient effects are played. Dynamic sounds react to the block under the player during rain, thunder effects are improved, and crickets are added to the night. Underwater ambiance is restored, and muffled sounds for blocks are set to a normal level.

The mod also adds blocks and decorations to the build palette, including iron, gold and steel blocks, tinted and reinforced glass, wood planks, a paper wall block, nether coal and its block, and wet pumice. It draws on the rain behavior introduced in later versions of the original mod.

Better than Ambiance! is a client-side only mod, so only the player's client needs it and servers run without it. It is open source under the MIT License, and snapshot builds are published alongside the stable release. Files target b1.7.3 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
