BaseLayer
by ArthurOrsi
BaseLayer supplies the shared code and APIs that the ArthurOrsi mod series depends on, so those mods can load and run stably together.
What it does
BaseLayer adds no visible content to the game. It contains the core code and APIs that other mods from the ArthurOrsi series call on to operate correctly. Players install it so that the mods built on it start without initialization errors.
The library also optimizes resource loading and is written to keep different extensions working together without conflicts. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 18 release versions, 1.17.1 – 1.21.11, and the code is licensed under All rights reserved, so the library is not open source.
Key features
Shared library foundation
Provides a base of common tools that mods in the ArthurOrsi series can build on, rather than each mod carrying its own copy.
Optimized resource loading
Loads game resources with a lighter, more efficient process than mods that handle loading separately.
Conflict-free extensions
Keeps separate extensions working in harmony, reducing clashes when several mods from the series are installed together.
Version matching
Its version must match the one the primary mod asks for, so manual installs avoid initialization errors.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Running the ArthurOrsi series

Server installs
Server owners add it next to the series mods, with every player joining with the same version.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who run mods from the ArthurOrsi series, and mod authors who want a shared base of tools for their own extensions.
